Fermor Mark’s Festive Fun

Southport Masonic Hall was the venue for Fermor Mark’s Meeting, 5th December 2017, when Bro Larry Ackerman became the newest Mark Mason in the Province. The ceremony was conducted by the Emborder Alan Moss and was to be divided into several parts, which were then delivered by W. Bro’s Ted Dickinson, Roger Watkinson, Kevin Collins and again Ted Dickinson. W. Bro Dickinson giving an explanation of the first two signs and W. Bro Roger Watkinson the remainder. The Working Tools were delivered by W. Bro Kevin Collins and the Warrant explained by the Worshipful Master. W. Bro Dickinson then completed the “In conclusion” and the candidate was warmly welcomed as a new Mark Master Mason.

The whole ceremony was conducted with aplomb, yet the Candidate seemed to be the less nervous of everyone. Manpower shortages had resulted in extra help being needed and Southport Group Chairman, W. Bro Colin Jenkins stood in as Senior Overseer and Lodge A.D.C. George McDonald acting as Senior Deacon, conducting Bro Ackerman around the Lodge.

It was a hugely enjoyable evening for all those present. One notable part right at the end of the Festive Board, was the visit by another Mark Mason, who was appearing in a Murder Mystery Play at the Craft Lodge next door. The sight of a former policeman in a frock was something to behold, but I hope will not become compulsory.
Iain Brown, honest!
